IHC MERWEDE BEAGLE Line of Trailing Suction Hopper Dredgers
Structural Identity / Exterior Design

Our assignment was to design and develop an exterior visual identity, to make IHC's new and first of its kind range of vessels, the Beagle range, instantly recognisable, emphasising it's sea-keeping characteristics, minimising weight, while simultaneously finding a way, through design, to make it extremely difficult, if not impossible, for competitors to copy its appearance, and with it preventing mis-representation and abuse of IHC's top-quality reputation.

The solutions are incorporated into the bow section and shapes, the integration of the bow with the bridge-instruments and their support, nicknamed "spoiler", and at the aft, the clustering and integration of various exhausts, cabinets, shafts and chimney, together with an overall coherent form-language and clear, less cluttered deck to improve cleaning and practical workspaces.

The first of the Beagle range is launched in the first half of 2017, the second being built, and more to follow. Current range features the IHC Beagle 4, 6, & 8
